Today I celebrate achieving something that has rarely been achieved since I first encountered the ‘joy’ of email: An Empty Inbox.
How has this been achieved?
Well, in simple terms, I simply went through and deleted everything; including the sent folder, saved folders, and even the deleted items folder.
I guess the better question to ask is Why?
Today I bid farewell to my current employer of the past 6.5 years (technically my employment terminates on 31st August, but we have the long bank holiday weekend to enjoy the rain here in the UK, so today is the last working day).
I’ve saved out the few items I needed to capture, and so as part of clearing down the MacBook prior to shipping it back to my employer, I thought I would have a brief flirtation with the joys of the empty inbox.
Sadly my personal email inbox is not so tidily managed: It currently has 17610 items, of which almost 4000 of them are marked as unread! The filing system may be poor, but I do know the search indexing is excellent and efficient 🙂
